Installation & Calibration

Installation Steps

• Drain the DSG transmission fluid completely before beginning disassembly
• Remove the transmission from the vehicle and place on a suitable workstand
• Disassemble the transmission to access the dual clutch assembly
• Carefully remove the worn clutch packs (K1 and K2) from the input shaft
• Clean all mating surfaces, check for contamination and inspect oil passages
• Install the new BorgWarner clutch kit and reassemble the transmission
• Refill with the correct OEM-specified DSG fluid to the correct level
• Connect a VAG-compatible diagnostic tool and perform a full DSG adaptation reset
• Carry out a controlled test drive to allow clutch packs to bed in and verify smooth shifts

Why DSG Dual Clutch Kits Fail

1. Worn Friction Plates

The friction material on the clutch plates wears gradually with normal use. High-mileage vehicles, frequent short trips, or driving in heavy traffic with a DSG transmission accelerates wear. Symptoms include clutch slip, shudder on take-off, burning smell and increased fuel consumption.

2. DSG Fluid Degradation
